  1. i take like four steps and hit it with an open hand.  if you do any lifting then it'll help the power.

  2. hit the ball with the palm of ur hand

  3. Practice Practice Practice i've been doing that for about 3 years now and if your really pasionate about it you will do really well inyour servers

  4. use the proper technique... you should kind of be walking into the ball...... you start with your weight on your back right foot (legs should be spread about hip width and left should be a little in front of the right) (everything is opposite if you are left handed) then you throw the ball so its in front of you on the side of your right shoulder (but you throw with your left hand) and at its highest point hit the mid bottom part of the ball with the padded area of your hand and you should kind of shift your weight to your left foot then after contact is made you should shift weight back to your right so kind of like your walking. your right hand should follow thru towards your back like a scoop. also you have to make sure you have enough upper arm strength just start close to the net and keep practicing and when you get it over take a step back. b4 you no it you'll be doing pretty steady good serves

  5. It's technique! First you probably want to workout to make the needed muscles stronger for the skill. Honestly, one can actually get the ball over with a nuckle or two but that takes practice. Also you may want to try the opposite of what you want, For example if you want the ball to go long and far try to practice serving short within the 10' line! This will give you a reference point to be able to contrast it!

  6. Well, I am giving you honest advice that I have learned from my coach. u gotta hit the ball strong with an open hand using the end of ur palm or with a closed fist. I personally use an open hand and remember to step properly cuz it gives it a really good boost that will make it go far. Hope ur serve gets better =D

  7. keep practicing- nobody gets it over the net every time. Time your toss correctly and have a powerful swing!

  8. You should learn how to overhand serve!! It goes way faster and longer!! Ask your coach toteach you and you will probably get it soon!! I learned how to in 2 days!! Now I have one of the better serves on the team!!

  9. Two important keys to a successful serve are balance and good toss.

Keep yourself in a good balance when serving. In fact when you are doing anything in playing volleyball, balance is very important.

Give yourself one step forward, that is enough for a good serve regardless serving upper-hand.

For serving upper-hand, the toss has to be in front of your hitting hand and with enough height.

Keep the tossed ball half a step in front of you, so you can step out and hit the ball.

Never put the ball above your shoulder, you may injure yourself when doing so.

    Happy learning!!

  10. hit it with the palm of your hand and keep your hand stiff. only take one step with your left foot (for righties) and right foot (for lefties) point your body toward the middle of the court and hit the ball at the full extention of your arm. you dont need to put your whole body into the serve to make it launch. oo and practice

  11. Technique and balance. Technique has pretty much been covered by others. If you arent properly balanced you can hit the ball hard. To improve this build up your core body muscles (abs etc). Another thing to do is the following practice:

If you are right handed - Stand on your right foot in a balanced positionwith your left knee slightly bent. Throw the ball up and hit it as normal paying attention to keeping your stomach firm and your body balanced. Once you have mastered this you will find your service has improved.
