  1. English, and more english for the next resting place/destination of the cue ball

  2. well that depends on what you want it to do well what do you want it to do

  3. Hopefully straight!

  4. With the cue ball after striking the cue ball with the small end of the cue stick. It also helps to chalk the stick. lol

  5. How you hold the cue is most important on hitting the ball. Do not grab the cue like it trying to run away it will not go anywhere. Hold it gently between two or three fingers. This will enable you to have delicate control over where your cue ball ends up. This will take many hours of practise on exactly how hard to hit the ball much like practising a musical instrument. You must always, always, always put cue chalk on the end of your cue after every shot. This keeps the cue from slipping off the ball as you strike it at angles. When sliding the cue across your hand that is on the pool table to hit the ball you have two methods of holding your hand. If you have dry hands you can use a closed bridge where you make a loop over your cue with your index finger and slide it back and forthl. The other method is if you make V shape with your thumb and finger and slide the cue along this V. This is the open bridge. Use powder on your hands if you sweat under stress. Line up the cue ball and the target ball and strike the cue ball half way between the middle of the ball and the bottom of the ball or table. The strike should stop almost as soon as you hit the ball and it will stop or roll back after it hits its target depending on the amount of backspin put on the ball. If you want the cue ball to roll forward after it hits the target hit in the middle or near the top of the ball. Practise is the only way to become skilled.
