my bunny lives outside on the patio and lately i'v been finding little ants at the bottom of her cage (she has a wirebottom one) and in her food dish. i already sprayed raid around the perimeter of the patio and around her cage but that didnt work!

i dont keep food in her dish 24/7, i feed her 3 times a day. (but they still feast on the leftovers)

and i use cage liners that i replace everyday.

any suggestions on how to keep away these ants?

  1. i would put ant bait traps at the base of her cage, but out of the rabbits reach. the ants will go after that instead of the food in about a day. i did that with my rats.

  2. There is this home magazine and when I was reading it i saw this peice of like chalk that kills ants. You draw a line somewhere where the ants come and when they cross the line they die.You can draw with it anywhere near your rabbit beause they don't harm animals only ants.

  3. Bring her indoors! I bet she'll be happier as a house rabbit :).

  4. just sprinkle some ant powder around the outside of the cage

  5. If the cage has legs get four lid tops and feel with kerosene and the ants will not be able to get to the cage.

  6. Get some boric acid powder and sprinkle around the rabbits cage.  It acts as a stomach poison affecting the insects' metabolism, and the dry powder is abrasive to the insects' exoskeleton.
