well, i think i can help you.  You need someone to help you.  Have them grab both of your hands and just pull you along for a while.  Practice turning with them.  Then begin to practice the motion, while they only have one of your hands.  Eventually you will be able to go without their help.  

Another option is to go downhill on a gentle slope and just keep trying.

We had a presenter come to our school and show us how to ride it. We had friends hold our hands until we got the hang of it. Just make sure you get enough speed to get your self going, and make sure you wear a helmet. You will probably fall as you start to learn but soon you'll be comfortable and get the hang of it! And the ripstik is like the wal-mart version which is like $20 cheeper (they're practically the same thing).
