How do u keep ice cream from melting on a hot day?

put in freezer...or cooler...or box of ice

Get a cooler, put the Ice Cream in it, and then some Dry Ice. The Dry Ice will keep it frozen for several hours. Just make sure you don't latch the lid of the cooler tight. The Dry Ice will build pressure as it evaporates. If the lid is shut tight, the cooler may explode. We are making some Home Made Ice  Cream this weekend for Memorial Day. That's how we keep ours frozen. A 7 lb. block of Dry Ice, will last about 8 hours, on a hot day. Plus you can put Ice Cubes in with it. The Dry Ice will keep the Ice Cubes from melting, so you can have plenty for cold drinks.

If you got it from the ice cream truck, eat it.

If you get it from the grocery store, make the grocery store the last place on your list to go and then IMMEDIATELY go home and freeze it.

I heard that if you put it in an eski with ice and sprinkle just a tad of salt over the icecream, then it preserves the temperature for longer,

i've done it before and it worked for me  :)
