  1. Pipe smokers used to put a piece of apple peel in the pouch and change it every couple of days.

  2. put a piece of potato in with it.

  3. Transfer the tobacco to a more air tight container (i.e. Tupperware, Rubbermaid).  Then get a small sponge and dampen it with water, put in in a small zip top bag, but don't seal the bag.  Put the bag in the container with the tobacco.  This will help to keep the tobacco a little moist, without making it too damp to burn.

  4. Small piece of apple will keep it moist.

  5. Put it in a cold, dark area at least 55 degrees or lower. Heat destroys everything including tobacco.

  6. I have had this problem with cigars. I drive a route truck and keep the cigars on board and they would get drier as the weeks go by.

I have found a way to prevent this by putting the cigars in a large jar (the type with a lever latch on top with a rubber seal) and then about once a week I add two non fragrant baby wipes from Sam's club. The cigars absorb the moisture from the wipe and then I throw them away and add new ones. This has worked all summer and my tobacco has not molded or tasted funny. It has also saved me money.
