  1. Yes, it is a museum. Rillifane gives a good description of some of the things you can see and do there. There are also temporary exhibits on various topics.

However, I have to say that it is somewhat different from a typical science museum in America (I'm assuming you're American). The exhibits are less interactive, a lot more technical, and include much more in-depth analysis of the social importance of science and technology.

You have to really like science to enjoy la Cité. I like it myself, but I took my nine-year-old nephew last year and he was bored stiff.

  2. Yes, its a museum in the Parc de la Villette.

    Among its several features are:

    1) The Explora where you can pilot an airplane, step inside of a camera, travel throughout the human body, visit the Ariane rocket, and much much more.

    2) The Argonaute an attack submarine open to visitors.

    3) The Géode, one of the world's largest geodesic domes, and

    4) France's first Omnimax movie theatre equiped with a 1000 square metre screen.

    5) A planetarium.

    6) The cinaxe - a simulator outfitted with with the same equipment used to train airplane pilots and train engineers.
