  1. It almost sounds like there might be a problem with the unit.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that 5.1 surround sound is 5 discrete channels. Audio information is coded seperately for each channel- so it is perfectly normal to have channels idling with no output. DVD might be your only source with discrete channels. Make sure you are listening to a good action scene to double check you are not getting any sound.

If that does not work and If the speaker terminals all match on the Bose- meaning any speaker can plug into any output- find a DVD scene that you know has info for one of the channels. Then plug each speaker into that channel individually and see if you get sound. Rewiniding after confirmation.  If you do get sound out of every speaker at least you can rule them out as your problem.

    Good luck.

  2. You'd be better off returning it and purchasing better quality speakers.

  3. I guess your connection is as such:

Bose RCA audio Line-in ---> TV audio Line-out

DVD player audio Line-out --> TV audio Line-in

    1. Since Boss is okay using TV or Sat, meaning Boss is okay

    2. To check your TV, swap the audio line-in R/L plugs of the TV, check if the speaker sound swap from L to R or R to L?! if yes, it tell you the line-in module of your TV is fine.

    3. Change RCA cable connecting DVD to TV

    4. If problem persist, then it's quite sure that the DVD player is broken.

    Hope this helps
