How do u make a D-link wireless network?

Question

I have a D-link wireless router and i have a d-link pci card in my desktop. When i try to make a wireless network with Windows it tells me to plug in my USB to my computer, and then my wireless acces point(which i'm thinking is the router)...I"m stuck here. My wireless has no USB to plug into. What am i supposed to do?

OR

at least can some1 just tell my how to make a wireless network with this equipment assummming i know nothing (b/c i don't) :)

Assuming, this is a wireless PCI adapter you have in your computer and you are running Windows XP. Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager button > Click "+" next to Network Adapters > Does your Wireless PCI card adapter show up and No yellow marks?(! ?)

Next, you need to configure your router to connect to your wireless adapter. The best way to accomplish this is via a ethernet/network cable connected from your computer to the router. Follow the manual's instructions for doing this if you have one.

EDIT: U.S. Wireless 802.11 frequency is 2.4 Ghz. Unfortunately, so are most microwaves and cordless phones. These could be causing signal interference if located near your router. Also, U.S. 802.11 wireless has 11 channels which to choose from. Adjust channels via the router's web-based utility and wireless card utility. See if this improves your reception?

Are you running any third party software firewalls(i.e. Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security Suite, Trend Micro PC-cillin, etc.)on your computer?
