  1. This is just my viewoint, but I think a book format would be a little confusing and disconnect from the whole idea of food traveling from the mouth to the large intestines.  Turning a page holds the possibility of losing the whole idea of a continous system.

Have you considered a life size poster showing the digestive system within the body lines?  You could show the food at the various stages going through the body starting with a drawing of a burrito at the mouth and ending with the digested solids in the intestine.

This would also familiarize the child with the body parts and where they are in the body.

  2. YOU DONT....

    or....

    42

  3. i would have to say that digestion is a little advanced for kindergarten

  4. Lol, not sure why a burrito specifically, but find a diagram showing the outline of a person with the digestive system inside.  have that same image on each page, and on each page show one step in the process, mouth/teeth/saliva, esophagus, stomach, intestines, etc.  Even my 3 year old understands now how food goes from your mouth to the toilet with this simple diagram-aided explanation (he asked, I explained, don't underestimate their ability to comprehend!).

edit: here is an example of a fairly simple diagram http://www.diet-and-health.net/articles....

I even saw a little 3-d body/organ puzzle at the dollar store that might add more interest to your curriculum.

  5. pictures and simple words. yet some technical words too. like have a drawing of the stomach. then have a burrito travel down throughout the book. through the throat, to the stomache and do some research on it. how it goes through the body.

  6. digestion being taught in kindergarden....what baby einsteins do you have in your school?

seems to advances to me for a child of that age...
