How do u make a burning laser(dragon) with common household items?

It is possible with the laser diode from a Read-Writeable DVD burner and a GOOD lense / diode housing.  I went out and bought the seperate diode housing off Ebay, did the flashlight mod trick, and still no burning laser though.  If you are going to make a burning laser, get a very good diode housing. It should be focused down to the size of a pinhead or it won't burn.

As for the diode, take apart a DVD burner with a high write speed (ex. 22X) higher the speed, stronger the laser. pop open the DVD burner, and it will be on the thing that slides back and forth. One is for reading, and one is writing. Wouldnt try and press it out, cause it will break. Best idea is cut away the metal it is pressed into really carfully. to find the positive and negative, hook it up to two AA batteries and touch it do each wire combination till it lights up. ***Unless you have a laser diode housing at home, you Will have to buy one. Just get one off ebay. Only 10$ or so.

In the end, you MAY end up with one that burns. Probably not though because the diodes need to be very strong, and the lens very good.  If you really want a burning laser, it would be most succesful buying one. But if you really want to make one, just try Youtube. Good luck.
