  1. A shoe box lined with aluminum foil with a light bulb. A 25 watt should be sufficient but use a thermometer to make sure you dont cook the egg.The temperature should be about 85 degrees.

  2. Be careful using aluminum foil! As it will cook the egg! I suggest a 25 to 40 watt light bulb approx 12 - 15 inches from the egg. Monitoring the temperature of it's environment is important!

    So 90 - 102 is a good temp range.

Wrap the egg in a soft cloth with the top showing. This will imitate the chicken nesting on the egg.

    Hope this helps!

  3. I'm afraid you won't have much luck with an incubator built from household items.  A thermostat is the real problem here.  You must maintain a constant temperature between 99 - 102 degrees for the duration.  Nearly impossible without a proper thermostat.

Have a look at http://www.extension.umn.edu/distributio...  This is from the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

I would check with your local Extension Service office.  When I was a kid, I borrowed a small incubator from our local office to hatch some duck eggs.  If they don't have one, they might be able to hook you up with someone that does.
