  1. Candle making is not really that hard, but you do have to cautious (making candles involves high temperatures, flammable substances, and potentially harmful chemicals). The beginner should start with container candles (usually in tins or glass jars) as this will get you some experience working with waxes, wicks, dyes, and scents. Note that there are many differnt types of waxes (container, pillar, soy, gel) and scents (not all are all safe together). You have gotten some bad (potentially dangerous) suggestions in your other answers (sorry). I would recommend that you look at some of the sites I provided links to, take a lesson, or buy an introduction book/video. There is a lot of good and bad information out there, please use caution.

    Sites:

http://www.candlesandsupplies.com (good for info, videos, etc)

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/candlemaki... (great on-line group)

    http://candleandsoap.about.com/ (good instructions)

    http://www.candlecauldron.com/ (a very informative site)

  2. That's Home-made, and you buy your wax & pour it into a mould where you have placed some wicking.

  3. I use old candle pieces and broken or junk candles, melt them down in the microwave in a Pyrex dish, then add essential oils just before pouring the hot wax into my candle jars.  I hold the wick in place by weighting one end with a flat washer and clipping the top end to a pop-sickle stick that spans the top of the candle jar, using a paper clip etc.  Just let cool naturally.  You can get much more elaborate, but that is a simple way to make nice fragrant candles.

  4. You can take courses at places like Michaels.

Or go visit a place that makes candles, like a fair or market.

There are 3 basic methods: moulds, dipping, or jars.

Use a double-boiler for melting wax & be careful.

It's extremely flammable! Hard to remove if spilled.

  5. melt your wax in a pot at 93 deg. pour in to the molds , i use the cardboard core of toilet rolls , put a nail, across the top with the wick hanging down, depending on the the type of cardboard , you may have to wrap sticky tape round it just in case the core is to thin
