I've been trying to learn how to play poker and I have a book on it, but it's too long and boring. Can anyone just give me some quick instructions on how to play? Or a site that gives REALLY GOOD instructions for beginners because most of the sites I've found r a little complicated. I'd prefer a reply w/ instructions in it, but a poker website is fine too. No lectures, just answers please! Thanks!

  1. that is what mainly a book is for..there is many books out there on the market ,

ask the clerk for one that is for beginners

many teach stradegy,,which is a bit boring and long

    try this one http:/wptongsn

  2. Poker is actually a very simple game. The only thing you need to know is the hands' value (what beats what).I guess that thing IS in your book.

After that, you'll see that there are MANY VARIATIONS of the game.No poker player knows them all from the very beggining,no poker player LIKES hem all,and noone PLAYS them all.And NO player KNEW ALL THOSE VARIATIONS when he started,as me,all pals above and yourself! :-) There's no need to study all that.

You can sit in some online casino tables and just watch. Then you can start playing with fake money. After that, you'll be able to play real money.

    try www.bwin.com

  3. if your that serious about learning to play, then read the book. if you just jump right into a game without any knowledge than you are going to get raped at the table.

That is a website that will teach you the rules. However the best way to learn to play poker is to play poker for fun online. I'm pretty sure Yahoo has free online poker. Just go sit, play, and eventually it will be self-explanatory. It has very simple rules, however they are to hard for me to explain without sitting down at a table with cards.

#1 rule in poker is patience and it sounds like you have none...if you can't read a simple poker book you will never really learn anything...you don't have to get a big book, they sell small ones like "poker for dummies" ...you need to learn what beats what ...starting with an ace to a royal straight flush...you need to learn the hands before you can learn any type of poker...

I know you don't want lectures but I take poker very seriously and people like you just want to "cheat" and think they can sit at a table and win instantly...you really need to read the basics

If that's too confusing play some online poker and learn as you go along.

Once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to play. Winning on the other hand...

  7. Well, there is many type of Pokers, Five Card Stud, Texas Hold 'em, Ohama, etc. Seeing as I gave you the instructions for Texas Hold 'Em, I will explain Five-card draw, a very common type of Poker, and the easiest to play. The Dealers deals each player five cards. The goal of the game is to obtain a better hand then your opponet. Those five cards must result in one of the following combinations: http://www.thepokerforum.com/pokerhands....

But if you are not satisfied with some of the cards of that hand, you can 'flush' the cards you are dissatisfied with. For example, if you had K-K-9-2-A, as your hand, and you want to get rid of 9 and 2, you simply drop it face down (That is what a 'Flush' is) The dealer gives you the same amount of cards you flush, which, in the case of the above, the dealer gives you back two cards from the deck, replacing the 9 and 2 you flushed. Afterwards, you show your card. If you have a combination that is wroth more then the other player's, you win.

  8. If you want to learn Texas Hold em Poker, Here is the very simple step by step instruction with image, you can learn in 5 minutes, good luck
