  1. Your local recycling centre should take it, it is processed into low quality heating oil.

  2. You can look for a company near the place you live to take away this oil, or you can place it in a plastic bottle to put it in the trash. You also can make soap with that! Just look for the formula at Google, I'm sure you'll find it!

  3. Take it to your local recycling center.

  4. inflation will force consumers to conserve energy

  5. we have a waste oil furnace that keeps us warm the following link might give you some insight.

  6. IF you were referring to motor oil, just about any auto parts store will usually have a bin in store where you can dump your used motor oil. I'm not sure if you have Advance Auto Parts in your area or not, but I do know for a fact that any location of their has this bin. My dad worked as a manager for them when the company was only 4 years old and was only in 3 states. To this day, I still take any used oil to them. If you're referring to other oils, I'm sure you could ask an employee if you could use their bin for the same purpose.

  7. Cooking oil, unlike implied by someone else is not harmful for the environment, and if you're cooking your food in a petroleum product...you need help. Medical help, and right NOW!

Now, oil used in cars and industy, to dispose of it, contact a local garage and ask them where they take their waste oil.

    Good Luck!

  8. I am assuming that you are talking about motor oil.  So I am going to answer assuming such.  Some of the local car dealerships have opened a couple bays for drive up oil changes.  They are using the motor oil for heating the dealership.  I can use Lube Stop on my lunch break as they are right down the street.  They recycle motor oil as well.  If you are DIYer then check with your local sanitation department.  Mine has a drop of sight for such things.  If you see a car dealership advertising a super cheap oil change then they are probably using the motor oil for heat.

  9. It depends what the oil was used for. If it was used for cooking, it is unlikely that it will be cleaned sufficiently. The most obvious way to clean any oil and to re-cycle it is to filter it when it is hot, but when you do this some of the waste is left on the filter which also has to be disposed of. The oil can also be left to settle in tanks and the top part then re-used and the lower dirty part wasted.

Either method means that the environment will suffer to a smaller degree than if the oil was simply thrown into the ground, but that some pollution still results, even if you burn the filter or the waste oil.

Recycled oil can be useful but the big oil companys are having such a profitable time with the oil being produced from petroelum, that they are unlikely to want to help here.

I heard of a case where a patent for a method of recycling motor oil was bought by an oil company and then supressed. I don't know how it worked but I would like to, and I suggest that it is possible to usefully reduce the damage to the environment by these means, but it is not possible to completely unharm it when you need some oil.
