go to dell and download your laptops service manual. will give you dis-assembly instructions, right down to the processor removal.

you can replace a processor with supported processors of your mother board.

look for supported processors in your mother board book or in internet.

the processor is pretty much the one thing that you can't really upgrade in a new computer.  Unless you are an experienced proffessional I wouldn't recommend attempting it.  You could probably have a computer tech shop or repair shop do it, but I imagine it would be very costly and not worth the price.

You must dismantle completely the laptop to be able to access the motherboard (all you need is a screwdriver and patience). If you manage to do that the rest is simple: gently dissassemble the cooling system (heat pipes, heatsinks and fans) and clean the thermal grease , raise the lever on the proc socket remove the proc , put in the new proc , use new Arctic thermal paste and reassemble the entire laptop.

If this is the first time you are trying this, don't do it - the processor is already a top version and you can easily break the case of the laptop if you're not careful.
