I would just push them against a wall, spread their legs slightly and commence to pat them down.  Do not stick you hands in pockets until you establish the contents there may be needles and such that could transfer disease.  You should also try to keep control of the suspect, because if they are able to turn on you, you could get caught off guard and the script could get flipped, and you will find yourselve being searched.
