  1. Basically I see horror films as an extension of ourselves or our lives that would be devestating if you had the courage to tell someone about it. We don't express our horrors due to the severity of them,  but we are able to make a movie about these events that we may be feeling.  Horror films are a release of a active imagination.

  2. As there are many forms of p**n, so there are many forms of horror.

Not all forms of p**n involve women, and not all forms of horror films involve the degradation of women.  Unfortunately, there is more than the fair share of such.

    M. Night Shymalan is good example of a horror film genius.  His works sets one up to believe something, and then he pulls the carpet out from under one.

In the Matrix, I was truly stunned when Neo woke up for the very first time.  It was truly Lovecraftian in scope when he pulled the breathing tube out of his mouth and then looked around at what the world was really like.

I was utterly repulsed by the vulnerability that was exploited in Predator Vs Alien 2, the Maternity ward Scene.

    And utterly horrified.

Kudos to them on that score.

I would say that good horror films disturb those who are comfortable.

Because, we should always keep in mind, that there are monsters out there.

It's just that they don't always look like monsters.

  3. NOPE!!! I hate that category of films. They build lots of suspense but at the end its just someone screams to his/her hearts content. WTF!!!

  4. erm...orgasmic?

i dont know i just get a blast of adrenaline when i freak out

  5. Well there is a feminist view.

Which is that women in horror films are submissive and subordinated. They are first to be subjects of violence, and also, this makes the view that violence against women is acceptable.

  6. This genre of films does a terrible disservice to society. Watching these films leads to desensitization toward violence and blatant disregard for the human body, soul and spirit. The same is true for the violent video games which people play.
