  1. You need a lesson your first time up.  No amount of reading can replace a lesson.

Boarding is harder to learn than skiing.  On skis you can learn and master the basics in a morning but on a board it takes a few days to get the hang of it.  From there it's much easier to improve on a board than skis.

  2. Basically, you need to focus on balance and a few basics before you do any kind of snowboarding tricks.

So forget things like "frontside 1060" or the "McTwist". These tricks take several years of practice.

For now, slightly bend your knees as you go down the hill, and keep it bent. Why? You need these bends for balance and to help maintain a good center of gravity.

Now for the simple turns as you go down the hill.....

For a basic turn to the right, move the hips to the right; for a basic turn to the left, move the hips to the left. (The turn will be only about 1/4).

For a type of stop similar to a T-stop in ice skating.....

Press your back leg so you have full weight on it.....this creates friction and should stop your snowboard at about 10-15 feet or so.

    Hope all of this helps.

  3. Dunno if its easier than skiing, at the end of the day you'll get the hang of it. it is definetly fun! Just keep your knees bent for balance.

  4. I can both ski and snowboard.... from experience i can tell you that if you already ski, snowboarding will be harder for you to pick up... if you dont either one is going to be the same... just remember to keep your edges, and have your knees bent.... good luck

  5. Ok, well I'm a snowboarder.

So let me put this out there.  Did you ever ski before?

Because if you haven't, snowboarding will seem way easier.  And you know, the other way around.

Whatever you try first will be easier.

I never did skiing but it seems like it is harder to me.  Well I'm afraid I can't stop and going face first.

Trust me, after like 5 times, it will be very easy.  I started because of ski club and it was really hard.  I couldn't move like 2 feet unless falling over.  But after a few trips, I went to new hills and it is actually easy.

Basics...strap your feet in.  You have to be sitting to strap them in unless you are good standing without moving.  To get up, roll over so that you are laying on your stomach.  Then push up.  So you will be backwards.  Then let yourself go.  Just keep your heals up if you start going backwards.  That is a way to stop.  Just try and turn yourself.

To stop, you can either do it backwards or fowards.  Which is just turning your board and lifting your heals.  To turn, you pretty much lean to the side you want to go.

Always, ALWAYS keep your knees bent.  Never try and stand straight.  Well it is hard and easy to lose your balance.

And that is pretty much is!  It isn't brain busting to remember this stuff.  It actually comes naturally.  Try different ways to do things that you would be comfortable with.

Remember to start on the bunny hills!  Trust me, it will be hard until like 3 trips up.  If you are going from skiing to snowboarding, it will be way different.

    Hope I Helped!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  6. Well its boat loads of fun, but not sure if its harder than skiing depends on what you have been doing your whole life.  Skiers may think snowboarding is hard and vice versa.  I personally think skiing is difficult, but that is because i board.  First thing i was taught is that your edges are most important.  Take a lesson... trust me it will help a ton.

  7. It's way harder then skiing.

thats all i have to say.
