How do u stop steel pans from getting rusty?

i prefer steel frying pans as its does make food taste better but it always get rusty, can anyone tell me how to keep it from getting rusty?

  1. It's best to hand wash them and dry it as soon as you wash it. It sitting around wet is what makes it rust.


  2. After you've washed them spread a little cooking oil on them and leave it until the next time you use it. I do this for my wok and it works.

  3. I dry mine on the cook top just like my cast iron pans and allow to cool before putting them away. The trick here is to make sure you are not sticking wet pans on top of them during their storage. If you do notice a little rust, grab the SOS pad and scrub it away before it gets deep down into the  steel.

  4. "Rusting" is chemical oxidation that occurs in the presence of water and oxygen.

    If you keep your pans absolutely dry, they'll rarely ruse. You'd have to put them into the oven for 30+ minutes after you cleaned them. All the water is evaporated and its bone-dry.

    Or you could try spraying on a thin-layer of oil on exposed steel surfaces. The oil insulates the steel against oxygen in the air. Of course it can get a bit messy.

  5. Regular scrubbing followed with oil coating can help reduce the rusting.
