  1. Check the density.

Weigh the clean, dry object. Find the volume of the object (fill a jug with water to the brim, place a vessel underneath the spout, and immerse he object in the jug. The amount of water that pours out is equal to the volume). Divide the mass by the volume, and check the answer against the density for pure gold (19.3 g/cm³)

  2. See if it is good conductor of heat and electricity, and is not affected by air and most reagents. So conduct it to electricity.

  3. The easiest way is just to take it to a jeweller, especially one that buys second-hand jewellery. They will tell you pretty quickly, usually without charge.

  4. try putting it on muriatic acid and if it wont melt then its real gold

  5. Firstly you can check for the gold stamp marking on the piece of jewellery, 375 for 9ct  750 for 18ct, (or sometimes it will just say 9ct or 18 ct). A jeweller is the best bet or a valuer who can test the jewellery to see if it is the real deal.
