How do u transplant a lemon tree?

we have a lemon tree and its pretty much dead except for a little bit. we wanna transplant it. how do we transplant it?

  1. Transplanting a dead or dying tree of any species often just stresses the tree even more and death comes quickly.  But the previous poster made some good suggestions:  cut off the dead branches and uproot from there.


  2. talk to a local arborist -it's not easy, especially if the tree isn't healthy.

  3. Cut off the dead branches so that the plant can concentrate on the living ones.  If it is in a container and you want to put it in the ground, dig a hole that is bigger than the container it is in by about 12 inches wider.  If you want to transplant it to another container, choose one that is one size larger and add soil to fill in the sides and bottom.  If it is in the ground, dig around the root ball trying not to disturb the majority of the roots.  Then, head to the home improvement store and pick up some citrus fertilizer so it doesn't go into shock.
