  1. What have you tried, and what doesn't work?

    Update

What you have to do is first, set the cable box to record the show at the time you want. When the time comes, the box will tune to the correct channel. Next, you have to set your VCR to record the show using an input from the cable box. If you have the VCR hooked-up using the coaxial output from the cable box, then set the channel to be recorded to 3 or 4, depending on what the cable box is set to output. If the cable box is connected to the VCR with composite cables, then set the VCR to record from the A/V connection. When the time to record comes, the cable box tunes to the channel you want to record, and the VCR tunes to either the coaxial input on channel 3 or 4, or to the composite A/V input; and records.

  2. i have Time Warner Cable with DVR and I don't have a recording feature on the box itself but I do have it on my remote.

    UPDATE:

Since u dont have a DVR, u can have the cable box change the channel to the channel u want recorded. So if u want Prison Break to record tonight u would select the program in the Guide and select Set For VCR then the program will turn red in the guide then u have to set your VCR so your VCR will record at the time u want it to record. so when the time comes the cable box will turn to the channel u want recorded and then your VCR should start recording. hope that helps. if not i would call your local Time Warner Cable number.
