Eh? This is a no brainer >_<.

AVI files open by default in Windows Media Player and its pretty straightforward. But sometimes some AVI need the DivX codec so just download it (either DivX or Xvid will do; search them). Or if you can download and use VLC player, which plays all sorts of media files (especially videos) without additional codecs required. They're all free.
