  1. They can be more violent based on the magma's composition and how much silica it has in it

    for example, if magma has more silica in it, it'll be more viscous and dissolved gases in the magma won't be able to escape, making the eruption more violent as the dissolved gases will be released suddenly

    on the contrary... magma can contain little silica, it will not be viscous, the gases will be able to escape relatively easy and the eruption won't be as deadly.
