We can have weddings online, graduation ceremonies, perhaps even christenings (imagined ones anyway). But what are the constituents and proprieties for having an online funeral? What happens when a loved one, whose only form of communication has been online passes away? When you have to log on and see their avatar in your messenger list stating their offline status as if they will sign on any day? Has Yahoo or any other online services given this matter any thought? We may have expanded the boundaries of our existence a bit to virtual worlds and sim realities but in the end we're still ultimately binded by our human fate.
