  1. The first thing you must do is understand that poverty is in the person and not the person in poverty and even then all you can do is help some maybe even many but if you think you can stop it all your are dreaming.

  2. Well don't expect Obama to change it, he can't even lend a hand to his brother in African living in a torn down hut .

  3. make it so it is not so easy to be poor

take away social programs for them

Then maybe they wll work and be productive

    Being poor is a choice

  4. There will always be poverty.  Someone will always have less than the rest.  Mental illness, laziness, lack of opportunity, lack of initiative, all kinds of reasons.  There will always be poverty.

  5. The poor are always with us.

    I fight poverty . . . I work.

  6. First of all we all need to work together. The rich, the middle class, and even the poor to the best of their ability. Instead of paying stars to sing and dance or play in a movie etc millions of dollars ( this also goes for all sports that also get paid millions of dollars ) cut those pay rolls in half. Sure they need to get paid but I've never understood why they get paid so d**n much. What about the little guy or girl that work their butts off everyday for basically nothing, minimum wage. To still struggle to survive. To feed their children themselves. Our government needs to look at their people. They need to say how can we stop this disease of " POVERTY? " Instead they stay more interested in the people of other countries. They help them more then the AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!!!  I'm not saying not to help others from different countries I'm just saying help your own first. This country is so unfair when it comes to being fair with the different classes of people here in our country the land of the free. Sometimes I wonder, how free are we really?  The poor are stuck being poor and it's so hard to crawl out of it especially when backs are being turned on them. It's like their saying yuck.....THE POOR....stay away we might catch it. We need to pull together as a country. As people. We are all the same no matter class of people we are. We've lost the caring ( not all of us ) for each other. We've lost our dignity. Our hopes and dreams and many believe and except that this is the way it will always be and it doesn't have to be this way. And the rich can NOT be allowed to become richer and richer from us. We are treated as non-equals in this country and it needs to STOP NOW!!!!  We need to band together and help each other not turn our backs.......It's really sad the way we treat each other.

  7. If you're talking about worldwide poverty the only way is for governments to become completely democratic and fair. However, this will never happen because leaders don't want their people to have voting power, and countries like America and England will never forcefully make this happen because our governments are too busy fighting over oil than to fight poverty and get rid of dictators.

  8. Give someone a job

  9. try the eliminator

  10. Poverty cannot be eliminated because those that refuse to work cannot be forced to work.  Plain and simple.

  11. By becoming a socialistic society..  run this country like a family. If all our citizens were treated like sons & daughters, moms & dads.. sisters &..  you know.

I mean, would you run a company where you 'fired' your Mom and outsourced her job to India or Mexico..??

  12. print more money

    easy

  13. There's not one simple answer to this question, nor is it something that would happen over night. A variety of things would have to be done in order to move forward to achieving the elimination of poverty. It would be a extremely long process with I think many great people would have to come together for. How I wish they would...

  14. Rich gets richer. The poor gets poorer.

  15. Guillotine the rich.

  16. I don't think we can ever totally eliminate it.  Human nature means some people either won't or can't work.  The best we can do is educate people and train them to become productive members of society, and structure the welfare rules so that those that can work but won't will go hungry, while protecting those that can't work.

  17. A rather complicated problem really. In a capitalist society like America, we tend to favor the individual so if someone is in poverty, it's more or less his responsibility to get out of it- which is something very difficult to do because once you have lived in poverty for a large portion of your life, it's difficult to change your lifestyle. So we have aid such as welfare etc for people, the only problem is that the people in need become attached to the welfare and less likely to ween off welfare and find a job for themselves.

In a socialist society, the standard of living is more spread out and has less of a gap than in capitalist societies. In short, the gap between rich and poor people is much lower. However, this also means more taxes will be instated in order to support the higher standard of living. This idea isn't as favorable in nations like the United States because we fear anything that is not "Capitalist" or "Democratic" -the old Cold War fears. People get universal health care, etc but it also reduces the effectiveness of the economy. Thus, the strength of an economy and the standard of living are inversely proportional.

Poverty is probably never going to be eliminated, but we can take precaution to either limit it and reduce it. One such way is to create more jobs- Roosevelt helped by creating more jobs- that got people to trust the economy and the government: of course, we also need to take into account WWII which created a huge industrialized boom. Next, we have to stress the standard of living seen in other nations like China where an entire community get together to help each other- im not saying that you have to live in mud houses, but just care for your neighbors. in China, whenever a family is going through hard times, almost everyone would help out. Here in America, that seldom happens- and only the closest friends are relatives would help out. The reason is because in America, we are an individualistic society and we capitalize on the idea that only the individual can make or break hislife. Maybe we should start learning from each other and understand that poverty is a problem that everyone must participate in ending, not just a problem for a few politicians or help organizations to tackle. This is our world and our life, we must not destroy it through strife.

  18. We don't, there is always poverty, as the average amount of money people make the average cost of living goes up, which means those not as lucky (who aren't making more money) wind up in poverty no matter what you do.

Also, you can't just 'print more money', basic economics. Inflation would ruin the value of the dollar even more than it already is, money doesn't work that way.
