Question:

How do we find the "owner" of a wedding ring my grandfather found during ww2?

There's a name inscribed on the inside but I think it's just a first name. I believe he found it in Holland. We'd like to find the family of the person that once wore this ring to give it back to them and hear their story. How can we find out where my Grandfather was stationed so we know where to start our search?

  1. just send it to the dutch embassy and its their responsibility. just ask them to inform you if they find out anything.

  2. Since your grandfather fought in Holland, I'm assuming he was a member of Canadian Forces. The source below is the link to the web site of the Canadian Legion. They have a "contact us" feature which might yield results on where his unit fought. The phone number below will contact you with the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Ottawa and also the one in Washington D.C. Ask to be put in touch with the cultural or press attache's office regarding attempts to find out whose ring it might be:

    1-877-388-2443

  3. oh gosh.you found my ring. thank god. can i have it back.

dude you're a such a dummy. you wont find the owner, just keep the ring as memory of your grampa and WWII

  4. never you will find

    only a impersonator

  5. Get in contact with a military recruiters office to get started.  Also try this website for the military archives  http://www.archives.gov/.  Also try ancestry.com

I was doing my genealogy and found some info on my family  members service in the military.

I will be interested in hearing about your results

    good luck

  6. Go to a news agency or talk show and they will air it. sometimes that works but sometimes it doesn't. people have found long lost relitives and such with out even knowing their name.
