we are planning on wanting to marry but we are both clueless. we also have not been to a wedding before.

we are not planning on to having a big wedding. and i don't even think most of our friends and family would come!

but what we would like is to take wedding pictures with my dress and his lux in a nice garden/land. and on a different day (without our wedding gear) to be actually married (with not many people). they will probably be about 10 of us. after that we would just like to have meal...

how do i plan all this?? and how much are we expected to pay?? we live in the northwest, uk

  1. Okay Hattie...how old are you exactly? The fact that you have never been to a wedding, know nothing about them, and that your family wouldn't come to your wedding makes me think that there is something not right here.

  2. We too had a very cheap wedding. lol.

We got married in a registry office, with no other plans after that. We were fortunate that the two witnesses (another couple) had bought us a wedding cake, paid for our photos and took us out for dinner after the ceremony. On top of that we didn't even have to pay for our wedding clothes either, my parents bought my dress as a gift, and my hubby borrowed a suit from a friend.. You don't have to spend a lot of money at all, we even managed to get our rings free.. So in total we paid a grand total of £140 to get married. lol. It was cheap and very cheerful & stress-free. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. We got married in our local registry office ( Runcorn, Cheshire).

you need to contact your local office ( the council can give you their number).

The price varies depending on when you choose to get married( eg. it was £50 for a saturday morning and £150 for saturday afternoon). You will need to meet with the registrar, who will take both your details and explain the process, like witnesses etc. They usually have lovely gardens where you can take your own photos or hire a photographer. They can arrange for all circumstances and arrangements ( like photos on different days).

remember this is your day, and you can have it however you want !!

    Good luck and Congratulations !!

  5. If you are getting married in a registry office you could then go to a picturesque park somewhere to have pictures taken, I'm not sure if you have any in the North West but there must be somewhere beautiful, plus having pictures taken in a park costs nothing. As for a meal if you are on a budget, why not just book a table at a Harvester restaurant, if you order before 5.30pm you can order an earlybird menu which is even cheaper.

As for planning, rope in as many of your friends as you can to help you.

I'm getting married next week, and we're doing the whole big wedding thing and to be honest, it's been an absolute nightmare, so I highly recommend doing it the way you are.

I hope you have a fantastic time anyway and enjoy your married life together x

  6. I recommend you go to www.confetti.co.uk.  It's a wedding planning forum and all the girls on their are really helpful.  You can ask all these kinds of questions and you'll get loads of replies.  I used it loads when I was planning my wedding.
