How do we get our babysitting & housekeeping business started?

We are trying to start a babysitting and housekeeping business. what should we do to get our name out there and get some business?

go to www.sba they'll help u get started in your business and give u counseling to help u operate it and set it up too

yeah, just tell any friends you have with children, and if you do a really good job your friends should tell friends and they will tell their friends ect, it all works in the end as long as you provide really good care and keep their kids happy, but i believe you have to have a licence??

You could also try the local shops putting up posters and similar things.

Think about this: if you wanted a babysitter or housekeeper, where would you look?  You'd ask your friends whether they know anyone they like and trust.  Word of mouth is the best source of clients.  If you're really good at what you do, once you build up a client base, you probably won't need to advertise at all!  So concentrate on getting a few clients, make them happy, and ask them for referrals.

You can advertise in the local free paper and put up flyers in shops, but there's no guarantee you'll get the kind of client you want (pleasant and prompt to pay).  When I've done this, if I got any response at all, they were fruitcakes.  And don't bother with the Yellow Pages-- I've never gotten a client from them, ever.  Would YOU hire a babysitter out of the Yellow Pages?
