How do we go about getting from the port into places like Paris if we are not taking the on board excursions ?

A few of our stops on the Transatlantic cruise are such that we have to find transportation to the various cities from the ports where Royal Caribbean drops us off at. We are trying to keep our expenses down if at all possible.

  1. You swim! :D

  2. Which ports are you being dropped at?  Without knowing specifics, I'd suggest you take the train.  It's efficient and reasonably priced.

However, if you're trying to get from the south of France (Nice) to Paris.  It's about an eight hour train ride.  You may want to consider Easy Jet airlines (which is like the Southwest Airlines of Europe)

Be advised, Easy Jet has some pretty tight luggage weight allowances.  One overpacked friend of ours ended up paying an extra 150 euros once.

  3. It depends whether you dock at Le Havre or Rouen. Anyway these two links describe how to get from either port to Paris.

If you do decide to do the trip yourself be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to get back to the boat, if you're late the boat won't wait for independent travellers but will wait for organised tours.

    Enjoy your trip.

  4. hire a cab or escourt...it is expensive.
