How do we go about obtaining a handyman's license... what are the first steps to follow?

There is no such thing as a "handyman's license". He simply needs to get a business license from the city hall located in the town you live. Cost will usually be under $100. Next he must open a business checking account at a bank of your choice, they will advise what is needed to do this. As far as taxes are concerned he will pay them by the 15th of April just like the rest of us and file as a selfemployed person.
