  1. Provide some good evidence for a start.  There can be little doubt that global warming is taking place so it you wish to provide evidence that I suggest you need to think what would convince everyone that it was not man made.

  2. If you don't know how, you probably don't understand the science behind AGW, and therefore your question is based on belief and not fact.

  3. I think all the expertise offered by the skeptics is really influential.  People who work at convenience stores, have jobs in health care, repair automobiles, juniors in high school...etc, etc, etc. are SO well informed and qualified to make a judgement call about the environment.

What I can't figure out is why more people don't take them seriously.

  4. Hire a credible spokesman like Dr. Fred Singer to spread the message. Exxon-Mobil did.

  5. I think it might be impossible at this point. Right now it's "in" to be environmentally friendly, so we will probably have to wait a year or two to calm the fire.

  6. Not to worry there are enough real scientists to dispel the myth.  These people don’t use consensus to prove their points or have votes in the U.N. that aren’t scientists such as Green Peace or the Sierra Club.

  7. It could be much worse, it could be global cooling.  Long winters, little to no food, vegetarians would starve.

  8. Why would "we" want to lie to and deceive the public?

  9. First you inform them that the moon landings were a hoax.  Then that the Earth is 6000 years old, and that dinosaurs and man walked the Earth together.

By then they'll get the idea.  You just don't believe in science.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

Shapeshifter - What you saw was due to "Milankovic cycles".  Google it.  We know that's not going on now, because the cycles are in a stable phase.

  10. by clarifying this question

  11. Get the majority of climate scientists to say so.

  12. The same way you inform them that the idea that Earth is round and orbits the Sun is a hoax. In other words, saying it does not make it true. If you can disprove the well known facts that CO2 is a greenhouse gas or that human activity has caused a sharp rise in atmospheric CO2, that would work. But disproving true facts is really hard to do.

  13. The believers just won't change their dogma any more that you could get someone to change their religion.

    Time will change their minds.

Just like people were in a panic about the pending Y2K "crisis" that fizzled out in Jan 2000, global warming will take time to fizzle out as well.

I'm guessing around 2011 people are going to be more concerned about the predictions of the end of days written about by the Mayans and Nostradamus to come in 2012 then will be concerned about another year with average snow fall and average temperatures.

Once global warming is off the headlines for a couple of years, only the faithful will still remember it.

All this panic is over just 1 degree over the last 100 years.

No one can predict the future any better than a flip of a coin.

  14. bring up the fact:  Whatever happened in the past is bound to happen again.

To ignore evidence of warmings similar to this in the past, and believing we are the cause is ignorant, and arrogant.

I remember actually clicking one of the links that Bob posted... It was to a graph on wikipedia that showed temp/co2/dust/and a couple other measurements.  I noticed that it also highlighted the glacial periods.  They always started while the temp was still high, and then the temp plummeted.

  15. Mate, you can not lie to so many people and expect them to believe it. And even if you could how are you going to change their minds.A poll of 30 countries from around the world finds that a large majority of people in all countries polled believe that climate change or global warming is a serious problem. No country has more than one in five saying it is not a serious problem. Large majorities around the world believe that human activity causes global warming and that strong action must be taken, sooner rather than later, in developing as well as developed countries, according to a BBC World Service poll of 22,000 people in 21 countries.

An average of eight in ten (79%) say that “human activity, including industry and transportation, is a significant cause of climate change.”

Nine out of ten say that action is necessary to address global warming. A substantial majority (65%) choose the strongest position, saying that “it is necessary to take major steps starting very soon.” The poll shows majority support (73% on average) in all but two countries polled for an agreement in which developing countries would limit their emissions in return for financial assistance and technology from developed countries.

A key growing economy with a large majority in favor of significant action is China. Seventy percent of urban Chinese respondents believe major steps are needed quickly to address climate change.

So you have got your work cut out for you to pusuade this many people of something that you cannot even prove to me.

  16. Tell everyone you know and give them all the info. They will understand someone they hear in person more than a tv set.

  17. Man-made global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are ridiculous, but creationism should be taught in schools.

  18. Replace most of the teachers and media.  Will not be easy.
