I am not asking coz I think I'm in love and am wondering if I really am. No, this is a school Theory of Knowledge Project where I have to talk about things like how do we know when we're in love?

Do you have any interesting views on love and the dfferent forms of love, growing to love, love thats not neutral, unrequiated love, platonic love, the difference between love and lust or desire...... etc...

Any views on love and falling in love are welcome!!!

Thanks guys!!

  1. There's an interesting theory that during the first 6 months of any relationship we are basically projecting back and forth and neither person is authentic.  It's not bad intention but rather a desire to be desired by the new person.  Basically we are mirroring what we think our new partner expects/wants and they are doing the same.  This leads the feelings of being "tricked" when the relationship begins to change later on.  You know the whole:  "we used to have s*x all the time", "he used to buy me little gifts and give me cards", "she/he used to dress so nicely when we went out" kind of stuff.

I've always found that a fascinating idea that seems to play out with a lot of the couples I work with.

  2. 38 years ago unrequited love took me from the UK to Canada, and I never told her thank you.

Nothing beats those first few months of being "in love"

Always lust is a part of love

If you find yourself endlessly staring into his eyes, your in love! (or an optician )

As you get older, the mention of love is the quickest way to get your wife to roll her eyes

  3. when you are not truly in love with someone, or love something, whatever it maybe, you will always withold a part of yourself from that relationship or association.

when judgement comes into the equation then it is not love but possibly pity, insecurities etc
