How do we know anything at all if we don't see it ourselves?

unless you have been to the rainforest, or the artic, how do you know that what the media says is true?

We live in a relitive world, and as we become more plugged into the world by the media, and not by personall experience, the less we really know.

Humans lie, why shouldn't the media?

  1. We can actually SEE molecules and we already move individual atoms around.

However I have yet SEEN anyone die from GW. However several million people died of starvation, lack of fresh water, and disease--- just last year.

  2. Do you believe matter is composed of atoms?  Have you done the experiments yourself?  Maybe the science books lie.

If you get sick and the doctor prescribes a pill, why take it?  How do you know it will work?

Do you believe we went to the Moon?  NASA could have faked it.

Do you believe the Earth is 4.5 billion years old?  God could have faked the Grand Canyon, etc.

Bottom line:  Nice theoretical philosophy, but actually living by it would be a pretty poor experience.

BOATMAN1 - If you see an avalanche heading for you, and it hasn't killed anyone yet (as far as you know, anyway) , do you just stand there?  The analogy is very apt.

  3. okay, humans do lie. Like that whole teenage pregnancy pact thing. They say that the stars influenced it. Yeah right! It was their decission. Go to a web site that has satellite pics of Antarctica from when they first took a picture adn one from today. Then will you understand? A pic from greenland will probably be better. But believe me it's happening. The ocean is getting warmer and the hurricans are getting worse.

  4. You can't see CO2 or most other gasses, but if you are inside a high concentration of them you could die.  That is why we have instruments to detect and protect us from hazards we can't see.  You'll just have to accept that you are not an omnipotent being who sees all and knows all.

As for the media lying, yeah they do it all the time.  It is up to you to learn how to detect lies just as an instrument detects gasses.

  5. For some reason I believe in atoms and molecules, yet have  a hard time in believing we will be given this great place to live in the sky when we die.   Why?   I'm not sure.

  6. The best way is to find websites with good satelite imaging on them.

However I have seen and experienced smog in California and it ain't pretty or healthy to breath.

  7. Im fortunate, having seen rainforests.  I also spend time in the Arctic on a more or less regular basis.  Over the years there has been logging of the forests, but reforestation laws are in place that safeguard the forests.  That system works well, at least in Canada.

No frequent visitor to the Arctic recognizes differences from years ago, other than the natural forces at work.  Talk to anyone who frequently visits the area.  Stop relying on politicians and southern scientists who may or may not have dropped in for a visit and left again.

Other things we can't see we have to take for granted I guess, if the proof is there.  I have never seen Al Gore in person, but I know he exists.  Then again, I've heard of his global warming thing and don't believe a word of it.  We know things that are proven, or 'laws of science'.  Otherwise, it becomes a matter of personal opinion because all far-fetched theories are open for debate and questions, with the exception (for some reason) the global warming theory.

  8. Yes and your teachers taught U Gores Global Warming which is a Lie. It has made millions for Gore and his movie was stolen from another and the ice melting was computer created . U must study science so that U can determine if it is possible. I am a retired NASA Eng and have traveled over much of this earth. The Ice melt flooding is also another Lie . Do this test ,fill a glass with ice ,now fill the rest of it till it is about to spill over the rim.Watch it melt and there will be less water than U started with. Ice occupies more space that the water when it melts.
