How do we know how they determine or certify the size of an olympic pool or what is the process?

  1. There is obviously a set size given by a standards group.

    Pools are built to specification to be Olympic size.  And they measure very accurately.  My college's pool was "mis-built" and ended up being 6 inches shorter than Olympic specs require, so we were never able to hold swim meets there.  So yeah--they have to get it just right to be considered official Olympic size.
