Well I'm worried for my mom... I called for her usually because she doesn't understand english well enough. So I called everyday except for the last of the 5 days which is the limit they said we needed to call on the paper.. she said she called on that day but with her english im not sure. I tried calling back but then i guess its now a different group? I called earlier and they said my mom's group is "completed" and that we dont need to call anymore.. so did that mean my mom missed it or did it cancel the whole thing ? It's a call-in service. :( She has work and I had school on the same day.. so.. will anything happen to my mom?

  1. No she is fine, her name will probably come up again within a year.

  2. She's probably fine, so don't worry about it unless you get a summons to appear.  The only real issue I have is to be called for jury duty, you need to be a US citizen, so I'll assume your mom has her citizenship and it concerns me that she can't speak English.  I know my ex-mother-in-law immigrated from Germany and she took her citizenship test in English and reads, writes and speaks English fluently.  She also proudly calls herself an American and flies a US flag on her porch.

  3. No, you're fine, not to worry.  It just means she's still eligible to be called for jury duty again.  You might want to call the commissioner of jurors next week and explain she doesn't speak English that well, they probably will pull her off the list permanently.

  4. Her jury group is finished, how much clearer can it be?

  5. If they told her she was done, she's done, if they didn't tell her she was done and she went home she is not going to pass go, she will not collect $200. She will go to jail.  call her and ask!!!

  6. I am sure you know by now...she is OK

It means everything is done, over.

she was there in case they needed person to

replace someone on the jury already.....maybe they got sick, or either lawyer dismissed them.

So the jury has been picked....they let the other people go home, like your Mom...not needed anymore.

  7. if it's all over (completed) then theres nothing else and she's fine...nothing will happen. They usually call hundreds of people at a time and only pick 14-16 for each case. So if they called a bunch and they have their quota, then your mom is off the hook. (till her name comes back around again...in a few yrs.)

    You're Ok...everything is fine..
