  1. I would assume you call just like you would any other restaurant that accepts reservations.

Check their website for their policy.

  2. I ate there JUST 2 weeks ago. It was fabulous. Making reservations is NOT the easiest thing in the world, but well worth it. You'll be glad you did.

You CANNOT make a reservation on-line or over the phone for less than 10 people.

What you do is this: They start taking reservations IN PERSON at 9:30 a.m. on the day you wish to eat there. We were there the last week of April, after spring break and before school was out.

We arrived at 9:45 a.m. and were able to walk right up to the hostess (seated at a podium outside) and ask her what she had available. She said they were pretty open. We made reservations for 5 p.m.  It was easy....

But the catch is... the time of year you go. I've been told by regulars that if it is high-season (mid-May through mid-September) you have to get there at 7:30 a.m. just to get a decent spot in line just to get to the hostess.

Once you get the reservation... arrive 15 minutes early as you'll stand in a crowd on the sidewalk with all the other people that have reservations for whatever time it is you're eating.  They seat everyone at once. They call out your name, you report to the hostess, she gives you a ticket, you go inside, someone  looks at your ticket and either seats you or sends you to the elevator. There are 3 floors and the place holds alot of people. There are buffets on all three floors. Once you get to your floor, there is a host/hostess immediately as you get off the elevator and they take you to your seat. It really is a smooth process. They have it down to a science.

The buffet is wonderful ... on the day we were there they had fried chicken (of course), some kind of pork tenderloin w/gravy, pepper steak, black eyed peas, greens, sweet potatoes, rice, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad bar and dessert  (banana pudding, molten brownie, peach cobbler - all from scratch) was included. I believe two of the entrees change daily, but the chicken is a mainstay.

My husband had the buffet ($17.95) and I had the Lady & Sons Chicken Pot Pie.  It is the most delicious pot pie I have ever eaten. I'm not big on buffets and a friend had recommended the pot pie. Was I ever glad I made that selection??  It was $18.95 and worth every penny. As I ordered it I thought...."this better be a really good pot pie for $18.95" and it was! It was thick and rich and so delicious and it had a lattice style puff pastry crust. It was so big I could only eat half. But, it even re-heated well in the microwave the next day for lunch.

My husband was reluctant to go through all the stuff we did to get the reservation, but even he had to admit it was well worth the inconvenience and it lived up to the Paula Deen name.

Go... you will thoroughly enjoy it.
