How do we make icing for cupcakes and cookies?

  1. I have decorated cakes for 30 years now. The recipe from Wilton is to greasy for me.

    I use:

    1 c. Crisco (plain if you want white, butter if you want the flavor & do not mind a ivory color)

    2 lbs. powdered sugar

    1 t. vanilla

    1 t. butter flavor (if you did not use butter crisco)

    1/2 c. more or less water

    I cream together the Crisco & flavorings, then add powdered sugar alternating with water until it is the consistency you wish. Beat until light & fluffy. This makes beautiful roses & borders.


  2. BASIC ICING

    1 c. Crisco

    1 tsp. white vanilla

    1 box sifted powdered sugar

    3 to 4 tbsp. cold water

    Mix Crisco and vanilla. Add sugar and water alternately. Beat until smooth.
