I have 2 roborovski hamsters and they have given birth for at least five times. But each time, the mother justs neglects the babies and does not feed them with milk.I have tried many methods like isolating the mother with the babies but the babies still die in the end. So far,not a single baby has surviverd for more then a day.I hate to see them die. Is there any way to ensure that they survive to become adults? Help me!

  1. There probably is a way,but if there is you need to feed them every 2 hours(even through the night) I am not against you breeding them, but my question,is why did you let her have 5 litters,if she just abandons them?

I personally would of stopped at 2 litters! Are you sure, the mum has plenty of bedding,food,space... And do you take the male hamster out,as the male can unfocus her. If she has every thing she needs then she is just a bad mother. Simple as that.Hope this helped a little!

  2. somtimes the mother is just to old to provide enough milk. but in stead of isolating them make sure  as you see her getting huge make sure she has enough food and water so you don't have to keep refilling her food and water because that stresses out and angers the mother whens shes with her young make sure the room is not to warm or not to cold when you see the mother leave her baby's to eat or something make sure she does not notice you pick up one baby and look at its belly if it has a white liquid it is fed which is a good sign if the mother is too young it might not feel ready to care for the baby's normally 1yr is a good time to start breeding.

  3. maybe its because you touch them, you must leave them alone and the mother

  4. cover the the cage with a dark cloth and see if that works or try going to a pet shop and ask them they should know whats wrong
