I assume that you wish to make a quantum jump, that is a translation without moving through the intermediate space.  Although a popular science fiction device, quantum teleportation is applicable only to atomic size gizmos today and is unlikely to prove practical for living systems, like bacteria.

Sodium was a key ingredient of the drive used by the Lensmen in the EE Smith sf series.  I forget the details, but don't think this was a quantum drive.
