Okay I Know how to put the saddle ON the horse But I have no idea how to tighten the front cinch and if you could go into detail about the remaining steps to saddle the horse that would help. I am looking for a long and detailed response! Its a western saddle. ( if you can find pictures that would great)!

  1. I can give this a shot I suppose, although if you can find someone to show you, it will be a LOT easier. :D

First of all, make sure your saddle is in the correct place on the horses back. The latigo should hang in a strait line directly behind the horses front leg. Next, center your cinch. There are generally two metal rings on western cinches, those should be centered between the horses front legs. The cinch is attach somewhat like a belt on the right side of the saddle.

Now do up your latigo. it should go through the cinch (from back to front), up through the ring the latigo is fastened to (front to back). repeat. You can either use the holes punched in the latigo and the metal pin on the chinch (like a belt again) and place the excess in the keeper, or tie what I believe is called a butterfly knot.

pull  the end latigo out to the left, cross it over to the right, slide the end behind the ring (right to left), then down through the center, and the fold of leather.

  2. Well first put the bit thats whats its called in the horses mouth then put the saddle on buckle his tummy and on around his neck  etc if you give me your e-mail i will forward you some photos.

  3. ask your trainer, half of what ppl say on here is going to b wrong

  4. You shouldn't be riding horses if you cant even put the saddle on them--

  5. Pull the cinch around the horse's belly.  Slip the latigo through it several times until it's snug, but not tight.  Slip the cinch buckle tongue in one of the latigo holes.  Loop the extra latigo through the "keeper", usually a piece of leather with a slit cut in it just beneath the swells.  Walk the horse around a few minutes and test to see if the saddle is loose.  If it is, tighten again.  It should be snug, but you should be able to mount without the saddle sliding.  If it slides, take it up another notch being careful not to get it so tight you can't slide your hand between the cinch and the horse.  The flank cinch can be looser, but not so loose a horse catches a hind foot in it.  Make sure you can run your hand between the flank cinch and the horse's belly.

  7. After i put the saddle on the horses back, i cinch it so that it doesnt fall off. The horse i ride, bloats her stomach whenever i saddle her, so i walk her around in a circle then tighten the cinch. All you have to do is pull it till its tight, and makes sure you can put 2 fingers in between the strap and the horses fur, that way its not too tight.

    i hope this helps...
