  1. One imparts backspin when the ball is off the club face before  the club face digs into the turf. We were taught " Ball - Turf " as the way to " spin " a ball. One can hit a better spinning shot from tight lies over grassy lies.

  2. you have to limit your back swing and hit all ball and not the ground.

  3. you do have to hit ball first, but you have to be carefull and no just try and hit the ball first, because more than likely your down swing will be to steep and then just balloon the ball up in the air therefore when the ball hits the green it will have a little bit of topspin. it is something you just have to practice with. also it kinda depends on the ball. you can't be hitting a rock hard ball and try and spin it. it should probably be a bit softer, that will help.

  4. move the ball further to the left of your heels

  5. you have to be good like me

  6. you just have to hit it solid by hitting the ball first and then taking a divit its not that easy to do but as your swing progresses you will find this more easily to accomplish

also make sure your clubs are clean so the ball gets in the groovs of the club

  7. You can only achieve a descent backspin with the lofted clubs (PW's, SW's and possibly the 9 iron). And you can only get a backspin when you hit the ball directly on a more descending blow, to create a 'cutting' or 'rubbing' action on the ball, causing a divot after the ball (not behind the ball).

Of course, it's almost impossible to get a backspin from the rough, although I have seen some pros achieving it.

  8. You must hit "down" on the ball, meaning you strike the ball just before you take a divot. Your ball flight will be higher and you will have more backspin then before.

  9. k like it depends on your capp, but its not trying to make a divot that does it, its your swing trojectory. You should get a divot because hitting the ball makes your club go fraction of an inch lower, if you purposly try to make a divot you will have an unrelyable golf swing.

Play with the shots you have, if you are a single digit handicap, then go to a pro and ask them to show you.

  10. Apart from the good swing advice above, you must use a soft ball, such as a Titleist pro vi, and your clubs grooves must be clean.

Also not mentioned is that you also need high clubhead speed at impact - which is why the pros like to lay up 100 yards or so from the green, in order to be able to hit a full shot, to stop the ball dead.

  11. years of practice

  12. u have to hit the ball first then take a divot. if u do not get a divot u will the ball clean and it will go over the green or short. if u are lucky sometimes when u pick the ball clean it will still have a lot of backspin and if it hits the green it will stay but it still my go 20 yards by.

u should not try this on mats as it can ruan ur shaft and break it. do it on grass
