I am building a studio room for my husband in the attic, and the breaker box is in the basement. Now there is electicity running to the attic and there are a few outlets already, but I want to run the attic on one individual breaker so we don't over load and pop the breaker every ten minutes.

My husband runs a computer, sound board, amplifier w/ cabinet, stereo reciever and key board when needed.

There is three outlets already installed and working up there, should we install another breaker or leave it the way it is?

PLEASE HELP... I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!

  1. you are talking about quite a bit of work to snake a romex from the attic to the basement, unless you have a straight shot. maybe the 3 outlets in attic are already on a seperate breaker? you will have to find out which other outlets are on same circuit. if the total amps of all used outlets plus what you would use in attic don't exceed the breaker amps, just use what you already have.

    Hope that helps.

  2. You are not running very much load  - so I would leave it the way it is. If you are running a fan heater, an a/c unit, a kettle and a washing machine up there, then I would worry.

If it keeps tripping invoke the first rule of diy which is "if you don't know what you are doing, get someone in who does" in your case an electrician.
