  1. open up photoshop

    click file, new.

change the image size to 4pixels x 4pixels

get your brush tool and set it to 1.

[it should look like a little square]

make 4 lines diagonally on the 4x4 square

    [doesnt matter which way]

**you may want to zoom in to see it while you apply the brush

next go to edit and click define pattern.

and its saved in your patterns!!

to add to ur font: type what you want to type.

click add layer style [at the bottom towardss the right] *the lil "fx" button

    check the box stroke..

click the drop down menu to pattern.

    and select the line pattern

    set the size to 1

and there you go! if ur confused  email me!! =]

  2. The dashed lines are usually made by a brush, you can make the stamp or download the brush somewhere. They were used a lot on things called "Userbars".

Hope that helped, i'll try find a link to a tutorial to make the stamp or a download for the brush.

    EDIT : http://www.gamexe.net/photoshop/creating...

basic tutorial on making the brush / stamp :)

(oh and they're called scan lines)
