How do you add someone to your friends list on 360?

When i go to someones page, i can only add them to my favorites...

Yes at first,then they have to accept your invitation,and then they'll be in your friends list

the only way i know is to go to your page and click "add" under your pics  and type in the peoples email addresses and send them invites to add you.

the reason you might not be able to add people is if your settings is set to where nobody can add you..therefore you cant add them
