  1. Well, subtitles would work the same way titles would. The process is no different....I know, I wish there was an easier way too. So, in order to make a title, right click on the Browser window (the browser is the window on the left side on the Adobe interface. It's the one that lists all the files you are working with. Simply right click, and go to "New Item" and go to "title".

In the title editor, type what you want to say, select your desired size and font, then X it out when you are done. Now, your newly created title should appear in the browser window, just like any of your video clips, or music clips would. To superimpose it over the video, just click and drag it from the browser into your Timeline, which is located at the bottom of the screen. Now, drop it into the "Video Track 2" or "Video Track 3" slot. You can put it under any Video Track, as long as your video isn't already there. It would overwrite your video and appear as if it was an ordinary title with a black background.

For example, if your edited movie was in Video Track 1 in the timeline, which it usually is, put your subtitle in Track 2 or 3 or 4, and so on... just not track 1.

I know its not the quickest way to do subtitles, but its pretty simple. I apologize if my terminology doesn't apply to the version of Adobe you are using. I'm only familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro v1.5 or Final Cut v6.

Well, I hope that helped a bit. Best of luck, and happy editing!
