How do you add the SAT scores to a total score?

The guide they give you is not very helpful. i think you just add them up , but im not sure

  1. There are 3 sections in the SAT reasoning test, and here is how they add you the scores:

    Math- Total of 800 points

    Reading - Total of 800

    Writing - Total of 800 (The essay portion is included in the writing)

    Which gives you a grand total of 2400 (Perfect score)

    And you are right, you do just add the scores up, but the only thing that you do not add up is the essay (because it is included in the writing portion).
