  1. How did they present their address to you?  However they wrote it, that's how you should write it.

    France

    Format Examples

    from the Universal Postal Union:

Madame Duval             Some people prefer to write the recipient's last name in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, but the UPU does not deem this necessary.

27, rue Pasteur          [street address (house/building number, street name)]

14390 CABOURG            [postal code + city]  You may precede the postal code with France's country code and a dash, e.g. FR-14390

       FRANCE

       M. Bernard               this is a variant "Small locality" format

       Impasse Vivaldi

       VAUCE

       53300 COUESNES VAUCE

       FRANCE

    Format Information

The Universal Postal Union listing for France is one of the best, most informative of the UPU country listings. (in PDF format)

  2. You can actually do it much easier by just addressing it the same way you would a letter anywhere else.  Just make sure you add "FRANCE" at the bottom.  I'm not being facetious---I live half-time in the south of France, and this works all the time.
