Question:

How do you adjust 2004 Marzocchi Bomber Junior T forks?

I have brought an 04 Kona Stinky Dee-Lux and it has these forks on it. How do I adjust rebound and compression on them? There are only two k***s on the forks, situated right at the top of each fork leg and they have a plus and minus symbol on them. I'm not 100% sure what they do. Also can travel be adjusted on my fork or is it constantly 170mm?

Cheers.

  1. Hey Camellia,

The Marzocchi Junior T is an awesome fork, but unfortunately the only external adjustments that Marzocchi gave the Junior T for 2004 is external preload adjustment.  The two k***s on the top of both fork tubes are only preload adjusters.  The internals of the Junior T are non adjustable SSV or speed sensitive valve pump rods.   The preload adjusters are to adjust the amount of sag on the front forks.  On your Stinky you want the fork to slide down or Sag about 30% of the total travel of the fork when you sit on the bike.   Turning the preload k***s clockwise or towards the + gives you more preload and - gives you less.   Rebound and compression are non adjustable, unless you change your fork oil for a higher or lower viscosoty oil.  If you do change your oil, check with Marzocchi for reccommended fork oil weight.

If you have problems with bottoming out or have to use a lot of preload you can change out the springs for a stiffer spring rate.  You can also go to a softer spring rate if you are a lighter rider.

Lastly the Junior T's travel is non adjustable.  All of the long travel DH-FR forks are non adjustable.  Hope this helps a little and good luck on your adjustments / set-up.

Edit: Hey, Did you get the FOX DH helmet?  : )
